This is a 10-card spread and the best, as far as I'm concerned, for virtually any type of question. Cards fall in positions covering your current situation; obstacles/assistance; distant past that is of importance; recent past/influences just on their way out; something that will likely happen if you continue on your current path; something that will come to pass; your hopes; the opinion of friends and family; your fears, and the final likely outcome. All of this is read in relation to your question. If further clarification is needed, I will lay out additional cards, typically one to three.
I am a huge fan of this spread (even with one card, it's a spread!). This is a fantastic way to meditate and an excellent way to look at the day's energy or the energy of the week ahead. A single card can say so much and is easy to keep in mind and focus on as an empowering affirmation.
I think this is a fantastic spread to give you a sense of your overall character, including strengths, weaknesses, and why you perceive things the way you do. I also call this the Horoscope Spread. Using the qualities of the 12 signs of the zodiac, this spread offers insight into a myriad of topics and can be very helpful at any point in your life.
There are SO many variations to this. A three-card spread could represent Past, Present, Future; Body, Mind, Spirit; Nature of/Cause of/Solution to your problem; etc. It's also a fantastic check-in on the day of an event, big or small, to find: the dominant energy for the day/how you'll feel about it and others who might be involved/how it will affect you. There are plenty of other examples of uses for this spread, and I will post more soon.
The Year Ahead Spread is a great choice for birthdays, anniversaries, the New Year, or at any milestone (even if you're thinking of a career change or wondering about your life path in general). I lay 12 cards in a circle representing the 12 months ahead. Typically, I will add one summary card per quarter year to tie that quarter's three months together. If more depth is necessary, I will lay out two cards in each of the 12 positions.
The Qabalistic Tree of Life is a complicated system. This spread employs the concept of the 10 Sephiroth of the tree, essentially laid out in three triangles in the form of a tree with the 10th card as the trunk. Near the end of the reading, I always add an 11th card for Daath, the invisible Sephira (singular of Sephiroth), to examine hidden influences. Depending on the depth required, I might lay this out as a double spread, meaning two cards for each position. This reading takes about 45-60 minutes and is $75. It is a powerful tool for examining your life and is a wonderfully interactive spread.
Whether or not you're familiar with the chakras, this spread is a
wonder. Covering seven categories corresponding to the seven chakras,
you can learn so much about yourself. This spread can also pinpoint
blockages or areas that are out of alignment from your root chakra to
your crown chakra, and clarification cards can offer insight as to how
to make adjustments to bring yourself back into balance.
I use a five-card spread as the basis for questions with money concerns. The spread covers: your underlying attitude toward finances; your current situation (the reality, not the perception); opportunities you should consider pursuing; a person, event, etc. that will provide specific financial assistance; likely result(s). I can combine this with the Celtic Cross and/or clarification cards to ensconce financial concepts within the bigger picture of your life.
